Brace Yourself For an AI Future

Virtual Event

Program Takeaways:

AI is already embedded in everyday life
From smartphones to GPS to streaming platforms, AI is not new—it’s been evolving for decades and is now accelerating rapidly.

AI will transform jobs more than it eliminates them
While some roles will disappear, many will evolve or be created—especially in tech, healthcare, and skilled trades.

AI literacy is now a fundamental life skill
Students must learn how to evaluate AI outputs, use tools ethically, and avoid becoming either victims or misusers of the technology.

The real risk is not using AI—but using it poorly
Those who ignore AI may fall behind, while over-reliance can weaken critical thinking. Balance is essential.

Curiosity and questioning are the new superpowers
The ability to ask strong questions, think critically, and verify information will set students apart in an AI-driven world.

National authority on career and technical education, Rachel Mann, comes to GPS with a research-based, practical, real-world field guide to the promises and challenges of AI. Participants will receive the tools regarding AI that will allow them to give students the preparation and education they deserve.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming the world, including the workplaces our students will soon enter. How will educators and parents rise to the challenge of navigating this technology (and the disruptions it may cause)?

Mann will showcase a proactive approach—focusing on technical skills and essential human capabilities—empowering students to navigate the challenges and harness the opportunities presented by this transformative new technology.

By actively nurturing essential human skills like teamwork, adaptability, critical thinking, perseverance, and curiosity as well as supporting responsible AI literacy, we can equip our children with the necessary expertise to thrive.

Mann is well-known as a speaker, author, and thought leader with expertise in STEM classroom innovation. She serves on a number of national boards that are dedicated to ensuring that kids are future-ready, and she is the author of “Pack Your Bags for an AI-Driven Future: Artificial Intelligence in Education.” Mann will address Glenbard teachers at “D87 Fest.”

Please share information about this event with friends and relatives. All are welcome to our free weekly GPS events, and no registration is required.
