How to Raise a Healthy Gamer: Navigate Power Struggles and Build Better Screen Habits (to Transform Your Relationship With Your Kid)

Virtual Event

When it comes to family rules around video games, many parents feel like it’s a losing battle. Our world is immersed in technology… something previous generations didn’t wrestle with. We have no proven model for guiding our families through the rapidly changing landscape and no blueprint for setting healthy boundaries and keeping them in place.

Enter one of the foremost experts on video game psychology: Dr. Alok Kanojia. He himself needed professional help to break his gaming habits in college, so he has firsthand knowledge of this modern issue. It was an experience that fueled his interest in learning how to help others.

His bestselling book “How to Raise a Healthy Gamer” teaches parents and caregivers a new skill set for navigating gaming culture. This program will provide a road map full of tips for setting, enforcing, and troubleshooting healthy gaming boundaries. Dr. Kanojia will explain the neurological and psychological reasons that children get sucked in, and participants will learn essential communication strategies for reaching kids who have developed a serious gaming habit.

If you’re aiming to prepare your child for a healthy relationship with technology or curb unhealthy amounts of time spent gaming, Dr Kanojia will help you better understand, communicate with and ultimately empower your gaming enthusiast to live a full life in real life.

Alok Kanojia, MD MPH, also known as “Dr. K,” is a former Harvard Medical School instructor specializing in mental health for the gaming community. He is the President and Cofounder of Healthy Gamer, a mental health platform that provides content, coaching, and community to young people. His work at the Healthy Gamer Foundation includes advising the United Nations, the US Surgeon General’s Office, and other NGO’s regarding youth mental health and the intersection of technology with mental health. He and his wife live in Texas with their two gamer daughters.
