Peak Mind: Enhance Your Attention, Focus, and Performance to Become Your Best Self
From the near constant buzz of our phones and the lure of social media feeds, to our ever growing mental to-do lists—the demands on our attention have never been so constant and glaring. Whether we’re simply browsing, talking to friends, or trying to stay focused in an important meeting, no matter how hard we try, it’s easy for our minds to wander.
There’s nothing wrong with you! Your brain isn’t broken. In fact, the human brain was built to be distractible. Acclaimed neuroscientist, Amishi P. Jha, PhD comes to GPS to help us train our brains to pay attention more effectively, focus without all the struggle and take back our attention from the pull of distraction.
Dr. Jha has dedicated her life’s work to scientifically determine how we can best harness the full power of our attention to better meet all that life demands. She combines the science of attention with compelling stories from those in high stakes professions to show us all how to be more present in our busy distracted lives. Participants will discover easy-to-adapt exercises to lift the mental fog, declutter the mind and strengthen cognition so we can all function at our peak for greater productivity and well-being.
Dr. Amishi Jha is director of Contemplative Neuroscience and Professor of Psychology at the University of Miami. With grants from the Department of Defense and several private foundations, she leads research on the neural bases of attention and the effects of mindfulness-based training programs on cognition, emotion, resilience, and performance in education, corporate, elite sports, first-responder and military contexts. In addition to her own published body of research, her work has been featured at TED, NATO, the Pentagon, and the UK Parliament. She has received coverage in The New York Times, TIME, Forbes, NPR, and more. She has also been interviewed by Brene Brown, Deepak Chopra, and many others. In her national bestseller, “Peak Mind,” she shares her discoveries on how attention can be trained for optimal performance and calm. Dr. Jha is a Distinguished Alum of Glenbard South High School.
