HYBRID EVENT -- Autonomy/Balanced Parenting: Reduce Parent Burnout and Raise Competent Kids
HYBRID EVENT - Online and in person at College of DuPage (COD) at noon and virtual on Zoom at 7 p.m.
All parents yearn to have thoughtful, happy children who grow into respectful, independent, thriving adults. So, when we see them struggling, it’s natural to have a tendency to step in and problem-solve… or at least we want to! However, the more controlling we are, the more out of control kids feel. How do we shift our approach to support and encourage our children’s confidence and autonomy while maintaining boundaries and staying sane in the process?
Dr. Emily Edlynn comes to GPS with a comprehensive science-based, yet flexible, parenting framework that can apply to every family: Autonomy-Supportive Parenting. Her approach benefits children and supports greater overall success in adulthood while also helping to deepen parent-child relationships.
Learn how to nurture three fundamental human needs: Relatedness, Competence, and Autonomy. Edlynn will cover key areas of family life, such as: social skills, digital citizenship, emotional well-being and managing money to name a few. The Autonomy-Supportive Parenting approach paves a path forward to achieve a more functional and flourishing family life, and it’s a win-win for healthier children and parents.
